THE “BIG CHALLENGE” CONTEST FOR  ESO STUDENTS

Last Thursday, 10th May, students from 1st – 4th ESO participated in the 9th edition of the contest “The Big Challenge”. Our students had to answer questions involving several aspects of the Anglo-Saxon culture and language.
It's been great and highly encouraging for our students to take part in the contest “The Big Challenge” because they see the success of their effort.
Once the results are known, the students will be able to check what their knowledge in English and Anglo-Saxon culture is in relation to other students from other schools in the region and even in the country.
For weeks before the contest, our students really enjoyed practising for the test on the digital board as well as learning new and interesting things about the culture of the UK. As it is commonly known, the study of a language is not only based on grammar rules, writing, listening, reading, and speaking, but also knowledge of the culture.  It is very important to develop such activities so as to motivate students in the learning of a worldwide language.
Thank you very much to all the students who decided to participate in the contest. It was their first but not last contest.
I am sure we'll continue the following years on.
